NOTE: Ground left unconnected.

If the sound does not seem to work with this configuration then the driver needs the following alteration to disable front jack detection.

1/. Double Click the Realtek HD Audio Manager at the bottom-right hand side of the screen in the System Tray.

2/. The main screen opens, click on the Audio I/O tab at the top centre of the screen.

3/. Click on the Connector Setting (spanner) icon.

4/. Click (enable the tick) Disable front panel jack detection.

5/. Restart the computer.

Vista change of heart

We've given Vista some harsh criticism since it's inception but now we've re-evaluated our stance. With patches and hardware we now advise that Vista is good decision for new computers, but not a worthwhile upgrade from XP.
